- What is cake smash photography? Cake smash photography is a type of photo session that celebrates a baby’s first birthday. It involves placing the baby in front of a cake and capturing their reactions and interactions with it.
- What should I wear to my cake smash session? You can dress your baby in a special outfit or theme-appropriate clothing for the shoot, but the main focus will be the cake. It’s recommended to dress your baby in something simple and solid-coloured so that the focus remains on the baby. Keep in mind that it will most likely get very dirty.
- What type of cake should I choose for my cake smash session? It’s up to you! Some parents choose a cake that fits the theme of the shoot, while others opt for a classic, simple cake. The important thing is that I offer cakes that are safe, sugar-free and non-toxic for your baby to eat.
- How long does a cake smash session typically last? Cake smash sessions last around an hour. This includes time for set up, taking photos, and cleaning up the mess!
- How many photos will I receive from my cake smash session? The number of photos you will receive is 40 edited digital images, but you can purchase more if you desire. Please note that you cannot receive unedited material.
- What should I do with the leftover cake and decorations from the session? You can take the leftover cake home to enjoy, as well as the balloons.
- How early should I start planning my baby’s cake smash session? You should book your photography session at least 3 weeks in advance, because of the preparations needed (choosing and booking the cake, buying the props, etc.). Ideally, the shoot should take place 2 weeks before the birthday, so you can have your edited images ready by the special day.
